Coach Annabel has been involved in swimming and aquatics her entire life. She began swimming competitively when she was seven years old and spent eleven years racing in the UK and internationally. During her best season, she ranked in the top five in England. She trained six days a week, sometimes twice a day. The years she spent swimming gave her a strong foundation for her entire life.
As an adult, she was drawn back to the pool to coach and assist high school children during the “off-season”. She jumped right in - figuratively and literally, helping the children with stroke development and stamina enrichment. From there, she began teaching people of all ages to swim, improve their technique, and fulfill their aquatic dreams. Annabel set up her swim school in California, which was at full capacity after the first season. She has worked with participants of the IronMan competition, triathletes, scuba divers, children, swim team kids, fearful adults, and those needing swimming abilities for their jobs (flight attendants and US Coast Guard personnel).
Annabel relies heavily on stroke analysis when she teaches people of any age to swim. She looks at the individual to see how they move in the water, how comfortable they are, and what they can do to make the swimmer more effective and efficient. Time and time again, she sees people get tired and ‘gas out’ while they swim because they’re wasting their energy on redundant movements or bad habits preventing them from swimming at the next level. She enjoys the rewards of teaching and coaching new swimmers and those with years of experience who want to refine their strokes and improve their race performance.
Annabel is delighted to return to the Twisters Swim Team as their Head Coach and looks forward to sharing her passion and joy for swimming with anyone who wants to dip a toe in the water!!

I’m currently a Public Health student at the University of Houston and work in health education and advocacy. I’m so excited to be joining the Twisters as a coach for the first time this year!
